In Brahmin Solutions, you can deactivate items when they should no longer be used in daily operations, without deleting historical data.
Disabling items is useful when:
A product is discontinued
A SKU is no longer sold
A material is no longer purchased
A kit is no longer offered
You want to prevent an item from being used in new orders
Deactivated items remain in the system for reporting and transaction history but are removed from active workflows.
Product vs Variant Deactivation (Important)
Items can be disabled at two levels:
Disabling a Product
When you deactivate a Product, all variants underneath it are also deactivated automatically.
Use this when an entire product family is no longer active.
Disabling a Variant (SKU)
When you deactivate a Variant, only that specific SKU is disabled.
Other variants under the same product remain active.
Use this when only one size, color, or version is being discontinued.
Disabling Products
Products are managed from the Products screen.
Disable Products in Bulk

You will see a confirmation message once the products are successfully deactivated.
All variants under those products will also be deactivated.

The product and all of its variants will now be inactive.
Disabling Variants (SKUs)
Variants are managed from the Inventory screen.

You will see a success message once the variants are disabled.
Only the selected SKUs will be affected.

Only that SKU will be deactivated. Other variants under the product will remain active.
Notes and Best Practices
Disabling an item does not delete it or remove transaction history
Disabled items will no longer appear in active selection lists for sales or purchasing
Use Product-level deactivation for full product discontinuation
Use Variant-level deactivation when only one SKU should be retired
Kits can be disabled the same way as variants, since they are managed at the SKU level
