What is a product?
Updated over a week ago

A product is an item that you offer for sale to your customers. You can either manufacture it in your own warehouse or purchase it from a supplier for resale. By creating a product, you can sell it using sales orders, produce it using manufacturing orders, buy it through outsourced or regular purchase orders, add it to the recipe of another product (subassembly), and keep track of its inventory levels.

In order to classify an item as a product, you need to set the Sell flag to true.

A product can have multiple variants, such as different colors and sizes. If you have not enabled multiple variants for a product, it is considered to have a single variant. The product will display just one variant.

If there is only one variant, there will be a single SKU code. However, if the product has multiple variants, each variant will have its own unique SKU code.

Product examples: Bike, Chair

Notice that attributes like size and color are not used in the product name. We recommend handling those attributes through our variants feature.

Subassemblies

In Brahmin Solutions, subassemblies are items, with the make flag set to true. Each item can be a subassembly and also sold to customers simultaneously. There is no difference between products and subassemblies in Brahmin Solutions.

Products for resale

For each product, you can choose whether you make it or buy it. If you enable the BUY flag, you can start adding those products directly to Purchase orders to purchase them from suppliers.
