Before we start, let's clarify two key terms used in Brahmin Solutions:
1. Product: This term refers to a collective grouping within Brahmin Solutions. It acts as a category that can encompass one or more items. Essentially, a product represents a broad classification under which both sold items and raw materials are categorized.
2. Variant: This is the end item that holds inventory, pricing, SKU, and more.
In Brahmin Solutions, a single product can have multiple variants, which might differ in aspects such as color or size. If a product is set up without enabling multiple variants, it defaults to having a single variant.
Each product has a unique variant code or SKU, which identifies its variants. Although the system does not enforce this, it is best practice.
Product examples: Table, Chair
Notice that attributes like size and color are not used in the product name. We recommend handling those attributes through our variants names/options.
A product/variant can be classified into 4 types of items. The differentiation is handled by the flags Buy, Sell, Kit, or Make.
3. Materials (Raw Materials / Packaging Materials) - are items that you use to manufacture your finished items.
4. Subassemblies / Batch Items / WIP - can be called intermediate items used in larger assemblies and/or sold to customers.
5. Products for sale - are items that can be sold to customers. Your company can make them by enabling the make flag or enable the buy option to allow the product to be bought from a vendor.
6. Bundles / Kit - are items made up of other items.
Note: You can create items both individually or in bulk via CSV. After you import your items, you can view your item groupings by going to "Inventory > View Products" or view items individually by "Inventory > View Variants."
